This tutorial explains how to optimize Windows 8 for the best performance of background services, which can boost your PC when using the latter as a server (file sharing, printing, backup or storage).
By default Windows 8 prioritizes the performance of programs over background services, so we need to change this setting:
Open the Control Panel > System and Security > System > Advanced system settings. Click on the Settings button located in the Performance section:
The Performance Options window opens. Go to the Advanced tab and under Adjust for best performance of: select Background services:
Click on Apply > Ok.
