What is it with phone preorder giveaways these days? It feels like every company is trying to lure in potential buyers with a freebie of some kind, and Google is no exception. Just ahead the release of their latest smartphone, the Pixel 3a, the company is offering a pretty impressive product with preorder sales: an Acer Chromebook 11 worth £199 .

Let's call out the elephant in the room: the launch of a new Google phone isn't exactly hair-raising stuff. The megalithic tech company has made all sorts of wondrous contributions to the world of tech, but their smartphones have never come with much of a wow factor.
