Issue

I have installed Microsoft Office Pro 2010 (32 bits) on Windows 7 Pro 64 bits . Everything works fine except that Windows won't associate *. xlsx files to Excel, while all other XML files are being associated to the right program. What can be done?

Solution

Click Start > Run > type "regedi" and press Enter.

Expand the following keys:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT.doc

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT.xlsx

For each of these keys there is a string value named "doc_auto_file" or "xlsx_auto_file" ....

For the first entry put: " Word.Document.8 "

" For the second entry put " Excel.Sheet.12 "

" Close the registry and restart your PC.
