As most TVs do not have support for the multimedia AVI format, it may not be possible to view AVI movies on a TV via a USB. The manual of the TV, lists all the multimedia formats supported by the brand of television. To view AVI movies on TV via a USB, the movies downloaded from the internet have to be converted to the format supported by the television or to MPEG format which is compatible with most televisions that are available today. Free software tools for example Format Factory can be used to convert movies from one format to another.
Issue
Unable to watch movies downloaded from the Internet on my TV via USB key!
Solution
This issue is very common because not all TVs support the AVI format. The type of files that your TV supports is often indicated in the manual, for example, the LG Scarlet TV can handle AVI files...
To solve the problem you simply convert your AVI movie in another format. The best one is the MPG (not MPG1 or MPG2, be careful). MPEG is the format that offers the most compatibility with most TVs.
To convert your movie there are several programs. Format Factory is one of them!
